Summary, in English

J.S.Sneedorff joined patriotism and political theory in his treaty from 1757: "OnCivil Government". He was professor 'Juris publici et Politices' at the Academy in Sorø from 1751-1761. His successor at the Academy, Andreas Schytte, lectured during the years 1761-77 and published his political theory in eight volumes 1773-77.Together they represent a theory of monarchism and absolutism in Denmark-Norway. The shift in generations between J.S.Sneedorff and his son Frederik Sneedorff was an exemplary illustration of a change in political discourse: from the justification of absolutism to implicit criticism.
