This is an account of the Stockholm Film Workshop, founded in 1973 by the Swedish broadcasting corporation SR and the Swedish Film Institute. The workshop was open for amateurs and semi-professionals who wanted help, directing and producing filmic shorts in several genres. The workshop was closed down in 2000. The study puts the workshop in the context of cultural policy and cultural democracy, but does also aim to understand the worhshop as an agency within Swedish film culture.
