This study examines the 'Emergence of Trans-Jordan' in the light of the Cairo Conference, which was held in March, 1921 on the initiative of Winston Churchill. It examines furthermore, British political activities in the Near East in general and Trans-Jordan in particular, following the establishment of Trans-Jordan under Emir Abdullah ibn Husayn. This study which is concerned with the period 1921-1928, draws extensively on previously unpublished documents of the British government.
