Computer-Aided Planning of Adaptation of Homes for Disabled Persons

Author

Summary, in English

When adapting the home of a disabled person many people with different backgrounds and knowledge are involved in the planning phase. An essential feature in the planning process is a visualization technique which presents the suggested solution in a form that is easy to understand for everybody and can initiate constructive discussions. In this research project we demonstrate the possibility of using a technique of computer-aided three-dimensional images and animations as a tool when planning environments for disabled persons. The planning method has been tested on real cases at a rehabilitation clinic and has been positively evaluated by the persons involved. The use of the planning tool will be demonstrated and examples from case-studies will be given.
