Metodundersökning : utvärdering av borrhålskartering avseende kalksten för industriella ändamål, File Hajdarbrottet, Slite, Gotland

Summary, in English
Abstract: On the north–eastern part of Gotland, in Slite, a mapping method has been tested in the Silurian bed-rock. The aim of the study was to develop a new mapping method adapted for industrial purposes on behalf of Ce-menta AB. The developed method is based on chemical analyses of drill cuttings and geophysical surveys. The combination of both of these methods forms the basis for the classification of bedrock structure. The study's survey area, File Hajdar, included 6 drill holes with a distance of about 50 * 20 m (3 placed along the edge) between the drill holes. A sample from each meter was prepared and analyzed in Cementas laboratory. The chemical result was then combined with a traditional gammalog study conducted in each drill hole. In order to gain more detailed infor-mation of the mineralogical composition a residual analysis was performed at the Department of Geology at Lund University to identify different non carbonate minerals. The final interpretation of the stratigraphy was then made with the help of the Rockware program Logplot where the models were constructed and presented. The result shows that the method works well for correlating and describing different nearby drill holes. The method proves to be satisfactory for a classification and assessment of the chemical and mineralogical stratigraphy but when a precise lithological description is required, the method is not sufficient.
