Fördjupad analys av Skånes Flora – 1. Naturvårdsvärde och skyddsvärda arter

An in-depth analysis of the flora of Skåne. – 1. Nature Conservation Value and species in need of protection

Author

Summary, in English

In this first article in a series based on various analyses of data from the survey of the vascular flora of the province of Skåne, southern-most Sweden, completed 1987–2007, the geographic distribution of total species richness (excluding taxa with only casual occurrences), red-listed species, rapidly declining species, recent immigrants and the Nature Conservation Value of species is mapped and discussed. To calculate the Nature Conservation Value of individual taxa a complex formula including measures of rarity, conservation status, documented change in frequency and age in the province is introduced. It is concluded that all these measures of floristic richness appear to correlate in the sense that it is largely the same grid squares that has the highest number of species, the highest number of red-listed and rapidly declining species and the highest sum of Nature Conservation Values.
