Igualdad y diversidad en el proceso educativo
Author
Summary, in English
Abstract in Undetermined
In the debate on education, there has been relatively little discussion on same-sex classes. It is as though the introduction of comprehensive school had killed the theme once and for all. However, there are a couple of circumstances that ought to make us reconsider same-sex education.
a.) Declining learning achievements experienced by many
western countries after the combined introduction of
comprehensive school and a new, “free”, pedagogy.
b) The good results shown by same-sex school for example
in Great Britain.
c.) The good results that boys get in same-sex schools whereas
they tend to become discouraged having to compete
with more mature girls in mixed groups.
d.) The highlighting of girls’ needs in gender studies even
though it is the boys who are lagging behind today.
The conclusion is that same-sex classes can be a contribution to quality education but it is still more important to change the current “free” pedagogy, negative for both male and female students.
