Follow Your Heart and Nothing Else: Thoughts on the Religious Anarcho-Primitivist Message of Lynyrd Skynyrd

Author

  • Anthony Fiscella

Summary, in English

This article maintains that the well-known Souther Rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd has a long-neglected religious anarcho- primitivist message in their lyrics. By neglecting the state, celebrating simple living, and advocating the individual conscience as the highest moral authority, the band's theological-political stance seems to approximate the anarcho-primitivst teachings of the Dao de Jing.
