Automatic Detection of Sluggish Control Loops

Author

Summary, in English

This paper describes a procedure for the automatic detection of sluggish control loops obtained from conservatively tuned controllers. A measure, the Idle index, of the sluggishness of the control loop is defined. The Idle index describes the relation between times of positive and negative correlation between the control and measurement signal increments. It can be determined with a very small amount of process knowledge, and is suitable for both on-line and off-line applications.
