What Angeline says about the Master's Managing People, Knowledge & Change
Introducing Angeline
Hi! My name is Angeline and I'm the student ambassador for the Master's programme in Managing People, Knowledge and Change. I am happy to answer any questions you might have about the programme, courses, student life, and life in Lund and Sweden via the Unibuddy Platform, where you can chat with me (see below). Please note that I cannot answer questions about the application process, scholarships, or residence permits.
Why did you choose Lund University?
"I was really interested in the programme. I found the Master’s in Managing People, Knowledge & Change unique in its focus on these critical aspects of an organisation. Its courses, learning outcomes, and the research tracks of the professors were also aligned with my interests and experiences. I also appreciated how Lund University was supportive throughout the whole process. There were a lot of informative webinars and live online events that gave an important human touch. For a prospective student, especially someone like me who is coming from the other side of the world, these were truly impactful and helpful."
What are your first impressions of your programme? Does it meet your expectations?
"There is a focus on reflexivity, critical analysis, and connecting and articulating complex concepts. I really appreciate that, as it helps us students have a deep and practical understanding of the course literature. We’re studying all these concepts and models while figuring out their applications and relevance in the real world. I think this approach enriches the learning process."
What have been the highlights of your first months in Lund?
"Making friends, living on my own, exploring a new country, and studying again! As an introvert, I’ve been worried that I would find it difficult to connect with people, but the happy surprise is that most people who come to Lund are here to meet new people as well. There is warmth and mutual openness and so I’ve been able to make friends in and outside of class. Living on my own is also a highlight. I’ve been wanting to do it for so long, and to do so in a whole new country is a very enriching and fun adventure. And of course, studying again. After working for a while, it’s nice to pause and go back to learning through the university experience."
What do you think of the teaching style in Sweden?
"It pushes you in a good way. As I mentioned, there is an emphasis on critical thinking and reflexivity, which I think are key aspects of the teaching style. It’s not just about keeping up with the reading list and showing up for the group work (which are essential aspects too), but also practising the ability to connect and apply complex ideas."
How international is your programme?
"We have a mix of people from around Europe, Asia, South and North America, and of course Sweden. Some of the students have experience studying or working across different fields and in various countries. Having this diverse collection of cultures, perspectives, and experiences allows us to learn more from each other, beyond what we can learn from our readings."
What are you most looking forward to in your programme?
"We get to choose electives, so I’m looking forward to the Strategic Human Resource Management and Corporate Social Responsibility courses. I appreciate how Sweden and Lund University advocate for sustainability, and I’m super interested in how that can be seamlessly integrated into the development of organisations and people. I’m also interested in qualitative research methods because my Bachelor’s thesis was focused on the quantitative approach."
Stay tuned! A more comprehensive testimonial from this student will be published once they have completed their first semester at Lund and have more insights to share about their programme.
